2017 Members' Equity Distribution

CIRMA and its Board of Directors is pleased to announce that CIRMA will distribute a total of $5 Million in Members’ Equity to its eligible member municipalities, public schools, and local public agencies in July.  Members will receive a prorated share of the distribution based on their premium contributions for the year 2015-16.

“This year’s Members’ Equity Distribution was the result of excellent operational performance, financial strength, and of the success of our members’ risk management efforts,” said David Demchak, President and CEO, CIRMA. “CIRMA’s mission is to help our members build stronger, safer communities to live, learn, and work in, and the Members’ Equity Distribution program plays a vital role in that effort.” he further noted.

Barbara Henry, First Selectman of Roxbury and CIRMA Chairman of the Board, said, “The Board of Directors is pleased to be returning a share of its equity to its owners — CIRMA members.” She added, “CIRMA has achieved its mission of delivering rate stability in support of our members’ need for budget stability.

The 2017 distribution is the sixth and largest distribution made in the seven years of the program. CIRMA began its Members’ Equity Distribution Program in 2011, and has distributed a total of $19.7 Million to its member municipalities, public schools, and local public agencies. Excellence in Risk Management Awards

New this year - $2,500 Risk Management Grant!

The 2018 Excellence in Risk Management Award recipients will each receive a $2,500 Risk Management Grant from CIRMA!

CIRMA members’ risk management achievements have played a major part in creating the financially strong, stable, and innovative organization that CIRMA is today. Our Excellence in Risk Management Award program recognizes those members that have demonstrated outstanding risk management leadership and results.

The Excellence in Risk Management Award application process allows members to nominate their own entity, their own or other department in their entity, or another member’s program. Award recipients will be asked to share with other CIRMA members their experiences and insights gained from their risk management programs, as well as any plans for the grant.

Cyber Risk

Cyber risks, while often serious and sometimes unfamiliar, can be effectively managed through appropriate risk management techniques and specialized insurance programs. CIRMA has a portfolio of resources to help members understand and manage the issues surrounding rapidly evolving cyber risks. CIRMA's Employment Practices Liability Helpline

Employment practices law is changing rapidly and is more complex than ever. CIRMA's Liability-Auto-Property (LAP) members have a new resource for expert advice about employment practices liability. CIRMA has partnered with FordHarrison, the nation’s preeminent law firm specializing in employment and labor law, to provide its LAP members convenient access to legal advice on employment practices via the Helpline program.  

“The Employment Practices Liability (EPL) Helpline is designed to provide municipal and public school officials –- especially those who may not otherwise have direct access to Human Resource services or specialized legal advice --with an expert source of guidance on employment practices,” said David Demchak, President and CEO, CIRMA. The EPL Helpline provides access to one hour of legal advice per month for no charge to CIRMA LAP members. The attorneys at FordHarrison will respond to CIRMA LAP members' questions within one business day. Download the flyer.

HSB's PREPARE Program: Online Tools and Resources for Pre-Emergency Plan and Recovery  - NEW!

Disasters can strike at any time, bringing sudden loss of electricity and crucial utilities, as well as disruption to the equipment and the municipal and school operations that depend on them. Working with our reinsurance partner The Hartford Steam Boiler Company (HSB), CIRMA is introducing a series of online self-assessment tools and resources for equipment and building systems.
HSB's PREPARE online assessment tool is an information gathering system designed to guide municipal and school leadership and facilities staff in developing a plan of action for swift recovery after an emergency incident. The tool's purpose is to reduce the length of time between an incident and a return to normal operations. The PREPARE Online Assessment covers:

System Upgrade:  Because protocols that allow you to create a secure connection with your NetClaim portal have been changed as of june 6, 2017, some older browsers will no longer be able to connect, resulting in loading or connection issues and an error message indicating that the browser cannot display the page or there is a problem accessing the site.
