Opioid Scene Safety Training & Education Program - Register Today!

Protecting Our First Responders -- Overdose scenes can be difficult, complicated places in which to recognize and gather all the evidence. This training seminar will help law enforcement officers develop the ability to immediately recognize an overdose scene and the death artifacts related to a fatal overdose. The presenter, Marisa Edelberg of the State of CT Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, will show how to analyze and gather information that will aid in processing the scene, including knowing what evidence is pertinent; the history of specific types of drugs and packaging trends, as this evidence can be overlooked; and present actual case studies of overdose scenes and the death investigations.
NOTE: Participants will receive 2 hours of POSTC credits

Two training dates are available. Click on the date to register:  July 17, 2019  or  August 15, 2019

Prevent Slip & Fall Accidents!

Last year, slip and fall accidents accounted for almost 40% of CIRMA-member Workers' Compensation loss costs, for a total of $10.2 million in claims costs.

CIRMA is helping our members reduce the number of slip and fall accidents with resources, communications, and training opportunities for employees. CIRMA's loss reports show that our members awareness and training efforts are working! The frequency and severity of losses from slip and fall accidents have declined over the past several years.

Visit our Slip and Fall Awareness page for posters, employee handouts, and other resources.

CT Cyber Disruption Response Plan

The Cyber Disruption Response Plan will be incorporated as an annex to the State Response Framework, and is a roadmap for state, local, and private sector entities on how and when to report a cyber incident, as well as an outline of emergency response actions to be taken depending on the severity of the disruption and its potential impact on the state and its communities. The CDRP is a companion document to the Cyber Incident Response Plan, which outlines specific technical response actions.
The Quick Reference Guide consists of two charts found in the
CDRP,and is intended to provide readily available guidance in a fast moving incident.  The Communications Flow Matrix outlines the flow of information in situations that are likely to affect public health, safety, or confidence.   It is recommended that you add contact information for the key partners to whom you would report a cyber incident, including the CT Intelligence Center, which can be reached at CTIC@ct.govThe Cyber Security Threat Level Matrix is a summary of the five distinct cyber threat levels, and provides general guidance regarding the communication and anticipated response activities for each of the levels.  The CDRP provides more detailed response actions for each threat level. Visit the CIRMA Cyber Risk Resources page for additional resources.

HSB Property Protection Resources

The Hartford Steam Boiler Company (HSB), PREPARE Program is an information gathering system that can help CIRMA members prepare for disasters and set up recovery plans. Disasters bring sudden loss of electricity and crucial utilities, as well as disruption to equipment that may impair your municipality or school's operations. Once a disaster strike, the recovery time is crucial to your operations. PREPARE was designed to reduce the length of time between the occurrence of a significant accident and the eventual return to normal operations. Any substantial reduction in recovery time will result in cost savings, as well as more efficient operations and faster repairs.
PREPARE's 3 Basic Steps:

  1. An analysis of the facilities electrical systems, pressure equipment, facility service equipment and other machinery to determine which systems and equipment are most critical and the types of failure they're subject to.
  2. Preparation of a plan of action for each critical item, including alternate power sources and operational processes.
  3. Data collection on the critical equipment, including specifications, anticipated replacement parts, availability of spare parts, repair facilities, independent contractors, and rental sources.
