When the weather turns warm, many Connecticut towns and cities will hire seasonal employees for the summer. These employees are often high school or college-aged, who work at town swimming pools, public parks, and in public works departments, performing a variety of tasks.
Seasonal employees frequently operate power equipment (lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, and saws), handle hazardous chemicals (chlorine for swimming pools), and may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens (from playground scrapes and falls). All seasonal employees should attend a safety orientation so they can perform their jobs without incident.
