LAP Risk Management Services

Helping Members Avoid Liability, Protect Property

Enabling our Liability-Auto-Property (LAP) members to deliver vital public services without interruption and within ever tighter budgets is part of CIRMA's mission. CIRMA works with our members to develop a risk management program tailored to their organization's needs. CIRMA's approach is not prescriptive or restrictive; instead, we work with our members, coaching and providing them the tools and resources they need to help them avoid liability, prevent accidents, and reduce losses.

We help members develop a consensus about their tolerance of risk; then help them set realistic, positive objectives, then select appropriate risk management strategies, techniques and best practices to succeed in reducing losses. Risk Management staff provides valuable context, expertise, and education. Context is provided through analysis of trends, both the member's individual loss history and analysis of changes in the larger legal and social environment.

On-Site Consulting

CIRMA Risk Management Consultants will work with your entity to help you understand your exposures and loss history, then help you formulate a risk management plan to prevent accidents and avoid liability, thereby lowering losses and reducing your total cost of risk. They review members' risk management programs, make recommendations regarding coverage and risk transfer mechanisms, safety, administration, and risk control techniques.

Onsite consulting services include:

  • Reviewing loss history and trends, contained in CIRMA's unique Stewardship reports, with senior and operational managers.

  • Attending Safety Committee meetings.

  • Providing customized training and education programs.

  • Conducting facility assessments.

CIRMA's Risk Management consultants will work with you to develop a safety and risk management programs and action plans that address your unique liability and safety exposures. We'll recommend appropriate strategies and provide the tools to help you reduce losses.

Stewardship Reports: Executive-Level Reporting

CIRMA provides Stewardship reports to both its Workers' Compensation and Liability-Auto-Property members. These reports provide the municipal and school leadership with the qualitative and quantitative information they need to develop and monitor their action plans.

Each report contains:

  • An analysis of past and current loss trends.

  • The cause and cost drivers of losses by accident, injury, and department.

  • A review and evaluation of current risk management initiatives.

  • Recommends risk management action plans and initiatives to prevent accidents.

  • Establish benchmarks for monitoring progress.

CIRMA Training & Best Practices Programs

CIRMA provides our LAP members training on municipal liability issues that is available nowhere else. Working with our strategic alliance partners, conducts dozens of risk management workshops on topics related to municipal and school liability. Expertise and training are provided in partnership with CIRMA's alliances with state and national experts. CIRMA Analytics Identify Trends & Loss Drivers

CIRMA's analytical systems provide our members a far richer, more detailed understanding of their operations and risk than traditional system that concentrate on claims history. CIRMA's sophisticated analytical systems provide real-time tracking, analysis, and reporting capabilities for our members, enabling them to monitor, measure, and thereby better manage risk.

CIRMA's risk management analysts consolidate and then analyze loss data to identify trends and loss drivers. CIRMA's analytical capabilities provide our members a view -- as broad an overview or sharply focused as needed -- at the organization, department, location or individual employee level. Thus enabling them to better manage risk and create more efficient operations.
